Today’s Mom PSA for today:
Being broken does not mean that you’re worthless. It just means that you experienced and survived some trauma.
We need to quit trivializing the scars it leaves behind, and reinforce the idea that you aren’t worthless, but you are worthy of love and respect and care. And your dreams are just as important as anyone else’s, and as long as what you’re doing is not hurting anybody, it’s valid.
It’s your journey.
And just in case you forgot: Broken just means you have space to grow. That’s how I see it.
Because when I was focused on how unworthy I was, because of things that happened to me, by me, due to trauma, it was really hard to see how in those spaces that I could find me.
So the next time someone tells you that you’re not broken, let them know that it’s okay that you are, because you are growing as a person, and you survived trauma, and you are learning from it.
You’re not alone. You’re amazing.
And if you ever see me, and you need a mom hug, you let me know, because I’ve got tons.
That’s your Mom PSA for today. Have a good Thursday.
Mwah! Saranghe (I love you in Korean)
