Good, bad--everyone in your life is there to teach

Good morning, fam. Today, I want to talk about role models.

“When you learn something from people, or from a culture, you accept it as a gift, and it is your lifelong commitment to preserve it and build on it.”

We talk a great deal about role models, don’t we? Who are good ones. Who are bad. Which we should emulate and those we should not.

But if we really want to make an impact, we need to reframe the question of role models into this:

Everyone is a role model. Good. Bad. Indifferent. Every. Single. One. What matters isn’t who they are or even what they offer, but what you do with the lesson their lives provide.

And you have choices.

• You can follow their lead, their path, OR

• You can pick a different fork in the road and bury the end of their impact beneath your feet.

This is the difference between perpetrating abusive and/or negative behaviors, or breaking the cycle to be the person you needed when you were a child.
