Good morning, fam! Welcome to Friday!
Today, let’s talk about what being broken actually means.
Let’s start with what it doesn’t mean: Being broken does not mean that you’re worthless. It just means that you have experienced and survived some trauma.
We need to quit trivializing the scars that trauma leaves behind, and reinforce the idea that you aren’t worthless. You are worthy of love and respect. Your dreams are just as important as anyone else’s, and as long as what you’re doing is not hurting anybody, it’s valid.
This is your journey.
Broken just means you have space to grow.
When I was focused on how unworthy I was, because of what happened to me due to trauma, it was really hard to see how I could find me in any of those spaces. Once I realized that trauma was something that happened to me, not a character description, that changed.
So remember, it’s okay that you are broken, because you survived the trauma dealt to you, and you are growing as a person.
You’re not alone. You’re amazing.
And if you ever see me, and you need a mom hug, you let me know, because I’ve got tons.
Love you,
Your Mom
